My Relationship with Yosemite

My history with Yosemite is long and storied. It started when I was a young child as a family Christmas tradition. Those trips expanded to camping, skiing, and photography excursions too numerous to count as an adult.

There's lots of things to think about when composing an image, and not the least of it is being worried about being run over by a cable car!

I came across an image like this the other day and started thinking about how to achieve this result. There were some hints that they started this project with a light box and a camera. Well, I had both, so off I went on a project of discovery. It really wasn’t as hard as it looks.

When I was a kid, my family would travel to Yosemite National Park to take photography workshops from Ansel Adams. Many conversations around our family dinner table were about photography, composition and how Ansel would approach it.
