How I Got the Shot - Wild Reynisfjara
Reynisfjara Beach in South Iceland is one of the most visited beaches in the area. It has a large number of tourists who don’t understand the wild unpredictable nature of the waves here.
I have great respect for this beach and the power of the surf. On our last visit, we were shooting the sunrise here. I happened to notice an Italian photographer had put his camera bag down on the beach full of expensive equipment. We mentioned to him that the waves could swallow up his equipment in a second. He picked up his bag and not more than a minute later, a large rouge wave washed up the beach and swamped the whole group. We were safe, but a little damp after that experience.
